San Benito Friends

Post-Pandemic

The True Meaning of Friendship

“Lots of people want to ride with you in the limo,

but what you want is someone who will take the bus

with you when the limo breaks down.”

-Oprah Winfrey

Friendship

A good friend is a privilege and one of life’s greatest gifts. True friends are rare and they should be cherished.

Dinner with Friends

Dinner with friends is significant for the soul. One of the best things that happen when dining with friends is stress relief. The pandemic made gatherings impossible; however, as the world continues to heal, true friends reconnect safely. When friends eat together, our so-called ‘animal brains’ receive the message that we are safe and happy, and our bodies are flooded with positive hormones and emotions. Dina Garcia invited us to Lollie’s and Linda’s favorite traditional Vietnamese & Chinese Cuisine. I have to admit it, my palate was surprised, to say the least.

Healing through Friends

Building a stronger self through friends. Studies have shown that when someone sets out to improve their health, they usually take familiar paths; hence, starting a healthy diet, workout regimen, getting better sleep, etc. A growing body of research suggests that social health is just as, if not more, important to overall well-being.

Linda De La Rosa said, “what a wonderful time we had last night…dinner with our SB/Houston Amigos.”

Dina Garcia- “always a great time with the SB friends.”

Lollie – “great evening w our SB/Houston Amigos. Always a wonderful time with this group.”

Lisa Soto – “Great pics Lollie Ramirez-Bennett🤗 and a great evening with sweet SB friends.”

Robert S. – “echoing my wife’s sentiment, it was indeed a pleasure to have spent our first outing with friends post-pandemic. Thanks Dina Garcia for coordinating this event.”

Dinner Topics

As soon as our musical chairs game ended and we all sat down where we felt most comfortable, we engaged in our dinner discussions. The topics were as follows in no particular order:

  • Pets, i.e., Gordo
  • How many hours that some people spend at work
  • Renovating new home while helping parents transition
  • Touched on our careers and how we are doing
  • HEALTHY LIVING
  • Friends and family members who past
  • Retirement
  • The future of transportation
  • Food at Kim Son
  • Best places to vacation
  • And the list goes on

As the evening came to an end our breadbaskets were full and we left feeling a bit more educated about each other’s lives and relaxed.

“Let us be grateful to people who make us happy, they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom.”

Marcel Proust

Let’s make something beautiful together.
