What is our New Norm

Adjusting to our New Norm

World’s Disruption

Over the past several weeks, we have experienced a world disruption like no other – a global pandemic. Who would have ever predicted in our lifetime that we would experience such a disastrous event like we are living through today? I will say in our family, we have been overwhelmed and in an emotional state of shock. As the pandemic makes its way over the apex, one thing is absolute – things will be different. I am convinced that most of you reading through this blog will tend to agree that how we perceive our surroundings and life events will be different for us.

Further, some families weren’t as fortunate because they had family or friends that did not weather this catastrophic event positively; our prayers and heartfelt thoughts continue to resonate for these folks.

Quality Family Time

The reason I wanted to share my thoughts with you is that now is the time to embrace all the good things we are learning while quarantined. The idea of self-quarantined never entered my mind until it became a thing. However, since then, the outcome thus far has been remarkable.

What do I mean by remarkable?

In our household, we learned that we could stretch two or three-week meal schedules and save multiple trips to the store. Every trip to the supermarket, we will typically spend more money on things we don’t need – we tend to buy what we want.

The reduction in trips to the store is yielding savings. Now we can put more money into projects around the house. Another positive outcome is the chance to spend more quality time with the spouse/family hence a more profound appreciation. The list goes on of positive results during these dark times of unforeseeable conditions.

THE WALLS

YOU BUILD YOURSELF”

As you prepare for your next chapter, what are you doing to become a healthier you? In our household, we gather around the dinner table to make memories. The best foods are those we prepare from fresh ingredients and not necessarily are these meals the healthiest but are sumptuous repast. Nonetheless, our devotion will be to continue with our healthy lifestyle, eating the right foods and regular exercise. That is it but do it without regret or feel shamed for not sticking to a rigorous diet. Enjoy the little things and make memories a lifetime experience!

Many of you depend on gyms to help keep each other accountable. Unfortunately gyms remain closed and even if they were not closed, it is safer not to go to them. We know though that it is especially important during this time, to maintain some physical activity. Exercise is excellent for our overall health, immune system, maintaining mental health and decreasing stress.
